Running a Mock Election in School

This will allow students for fully learn and understand how elections work and the important role they’ll be playing in it when they’re old enough to vote.

Here’s how to create a mock election in your school.

Before the mock election gets underway, it’s good to give a couple of lessons on how the electoral process actually works. Students should be learning about delegates, electoral colleges and everything in between. This is going to be a tough subject for some of the students to understand. Make copies of information and use a whiteboard to write out the election process.

Decide which two students are going to be the running candidates. One will be the republican while the other a democrat. Since speeches are involved, make sure the two chosen students won’t mind speaking in front of their classmates. As part of their homework, have the two students think about where they stand on certain issues. Have the other students come up with questions for the mock rally you’ll be having before the mock election.

On the mock Election Day, let your candidates give their speeches. Once they’re done, ask them to sit in the library while the class votes. Have two students supervise the election where they’ll hand each student a piece of paper and pencil. They will tell the students to write down whom they want to vote for and make sure the piece is folded in half.

The election moderator will be the one to take out all the votes and tally them up to see who the new president is. If the numbers are pretty close, the teacher can do vote as an “electoral college. Once you cast your vote, the one who has the most votes will win.

Election Day is one of the most important days for the United States government. This is the day that registered voters all over this country go to the polling place and cast their vote for who they want to elect as president of the United States. Election day is the perfect time to teach kids about politics and our country.

Reading all you can on Election Day, whether it’s fiction or nonfiction, can be a great way for students to learn basic information. A class trip to the library to find books about Election Day could be a fun activity. Schools should also considering investing in some great books relating to Election Day that could be used every year.

Prior to Election Day, students could make mock campaign posters that would be hung all around the classroom on Election Day. Students can have fun creating posters and learn about advertising and its affect on elections. Show students campaign posters from previous elections so they can see how they’ve changed, if they have, over the years. Look at the use of colors, text and lines in the campaigns and discuss why they chose the design they did. Let half the students support one candidate and the other half support the other and have them work together as a team to come up with the best possible campaign poster.

Create a mock election in the classroom. Nominate two students and during lunch or history class have the fellow students vote on who should be president the following day. The two candidates can create a mock campaign poster and speech, nothing too drastic, and the students will vote. You can also have the students fill out a mock registration form in advance so they can get a feel for how voting in an election would work.

You can even compile statistical information by putting an M and an F on the papers to see how the girls and boys are voting. Talk to the students about the outcome of your mock election.

Everyone from teachers, doctors, and even scientists and engineers have found applications that are handy and useful to their causes.

Although the many varying styles of applications are certainly not limited to gaming, this genre seems to have taken on a whole new aspect. Total Bankruptcy Implies More is Lost than Just Finances

It might be that never before in America’s history has political reform been more necessary than in the early years of the twenty-first century. Seemingly without fail, news coverage of politicians and their deeds revolves around the crimes which they engage in during their time away from the office. Whether it involves illicit trust violations such as marital infidelity, or the less frequent but by no means uncommon event of hiding one’s true sexual nature, it seems the ranks of politicians are populated with troubled people.

Ignoring the risks to their reputations and careers, politicians from both main parties have seemingly embarked on self-destructive courses of action which have shed their parties in a poor light. It’s never a good thing to hear or read that a senator has been caught in a sex sting. It makes their party look bad, it makes the country look bad, and it wreaks havoc on the façade that they’ve been living at home of pretending to be a happily married person. Engaging in such actions outside the home or office can lead to total bankruptcy.

It’s not just a financial bankruptcy that occurs. The subsequent media explosion and exposure also often offers a glimpse into the moral bankruptcy involved, as the politician, with dry eyes, laments their disgraceful actions which have led to this moment of shame. Accompanying the script, there will be inevitable references to trying to take some time to spend with their family to work things out. Americans should expect more out of their leadership. Leading implies having someone at the helm that is capable of recognizing that things need to be “worked out” long before they feel a need to go engage in less than respectable acts with another person. It is a rare news story that portrays this sort of true leadership, and as such, one can expect the bad news to continue.
