The main challenge which the American society faces is that most of the people are unaware about the different values, principles and national priorities .it can be seen as a growing trend that an increasing number of people are becoming oblivious of the needs of the country.

For them their own concerns take a much bigger shape than the concerns of the country. Another concern is the growing inequality between the rich and the poor. It is an issue which most of the countries of the world face. The rich people are becoming richer and the poor poorer. It is a great threat to the middle class and should be tackled at the earliest. Inequality is something which is not tolerated in any country. The progress of a country is greatly hampered due to inequality.

Each and every citizen of the country plays a great role in its development. If those people are not given due importance and regards, growing resentment can be seen amongst them. The continuing breakdown of the family and the family values is also taking a massive shape. As everyone is on the move for securing a better future, the concept of family is taking a setback. The family values attached to it are also not getting due importance.

However there remains a lot of reforms which should be made for the progress and development of a country. A lot of reforms and changes which are still not enacted in the society and should be implemented at the earliest or the betterment of the society. Some of the burning issues which are plaguing the society are the immigration problems, lack of good jobs, recession and global warming. Reforms are necessary in these areas in order to give a boost to the country’s economy.

Recession has hit not only USA but the entire world in a manner from which coming out is a hard task. People losing jobs and getting pink slips has become the order of the day. Though the scenario has changed a bit for the better, a lot more needs to be done in order to protect the economy. There are a large number of people who are jobless, searching frantically for a good job and yet not getting one. Reform policies should be implemented in this sphere so as to create new jobs for the large number of jobless people.

It has become an extremely important social issue. The political parties are taking actions for a long time, but till now they remain inadequate to cater to the needs of such a huge segment of the population. This is one social issue for which a proper reform system will not only boost the society but also the economy on the whole.

There will be a political party which will be running the government of the country. There will be other parties which will constantly try to dethrone that party. The constant competition between the different parties plays a crucial role in the working of the government. For making a country one of developed ones, it is essential for the government to work towards the goal with utmost attention.

However at times the various policies of the government become derogatory for the growth of the country. It is the job of the different other political parties to rebel against the implementation of such policies for the good of the country. For the proper working of the government, the views and opinions of the rival parties play a significant role. They ensure that implementation of important decisions that may help placing the country in a premier position in the world map is not procrastinated.

The delay-dallying of various important policies from being implemented, not giving due importance in developing the standard of living of the people and not offering perks for poor and needy are some of the issues about which the rival parties constantly pester the government. In order to ensure their position in the next election as well, it becomes imperative for the government to pay heed to such protests. It also makes sure that they do not misuse their power and position and remain responsible towards the citizens so as to garner more votes.

Every political party has its own set of policies and principles and they work in accordance to that. They have a motto which is followed by the party members.

The various people working for a party follow the policies set by the party’s founding members and try to promote them to the citizens by showcasing the benefits of those policies. One can become a member of a particular party if only the policies and principles of the party attract them. The policies are based on a wide variety of subjects are set keeping in mind the various happenings of the society. There are a wide number of matters like immigration problem, population growth control, lack of jobs, treatment of widows and single parents which the country has to deal with on a regular basis.

There are people who feel about these problems and want to do something for making the conditions better. Most of the parties get actively involved in these things. The party members choose a party which has similar ideas of dealing with the problem as his. When a lot of people work together in order to take care of the burning issues of the society, it helps in the development of the country.

Since the proposal lacked the votes to advance, but the senate majority leader has said he would agree to the republican proposal that would temporarily extend some government funding. This is the most recent event that may reflect the hefty clout republicans seem to be enjoying after Novembers sweeping victory.

This bill would have given Obama the funding he requested that was to help implement his health care plan and some Wall Street Regulations. It would’ve also provided the resources for many important programs such as the extra engines for the F 35 fighter as well as some of the lesser known resources such as the pet spending projects that were requested by lawmakers.

Some of the sweeping changes may or may not reflect what may be in the future with big changes in the house so recently. However, it seems it should become more and more important to handle the more immediate needs such as Health Care reform, unemployment issues and the many other struggles that Americans have struggled with in the flagging economy.

Until things change, it seems a government will continue to operate on outdated budget that seems to be making it difficult for some of the Federal agencies to cancel many of the outdated programs. Regardless of the impending change in the house climate, Republicans have routinely criticized the democrats are focusing on matters they deem less important, such as the movement to allow gays to serve openly in the military.

Every since the lid was blown off of this scandal, sports enthusiast, pet owners and the general public alike, have found themselves appalled by the nature of some of the crimes committed on the dogs, alive and dead, that were found on Michael Vick’s compound in Virginia near his home town. Although many have lamented the fact that Michael Vick was used to make quite an example of, it seems that none, are entirely willing to lay any sort of innocence to the crimes at his door.

The humane society wants people to understand, that not all cases of animal abuse, are spotlighted so vividly by the media. And that for many who have been previously accused of some form of animal abuse, restricting them from owning pets in the future can sometimes be the only means in which to prevent more abusive tragedies from occurring in the future.

In a recent interview with Michael Vick, he shared that he believed that owning a dog would be a big step for him in the rehabilitation process. He says he wants to show the public, as well as his family, that he has a genuine love and passion for animals.

Since his release from prison in 2009, Michael Vick has worked continuously with the humane society to help fight against animal abuse and to renounce dog fighting itself. Unfortunately for Michael Vick’s family, it looks like they’re going to have to wait for his three year probation period to end, before they can get a family dog.

Since the beginning of the scandal, more than 16,000 people have filed claims to the trustee, stating that they too had lost money to Bernie Madoff’s scheme. Although a majority of these claims have been rejected, the trustee has acknowledged that 2363 claims were legitimate. The total of those claims reaching nearly $5.9 billion in damages.

Barbara Picower, widow of deceased billionaire Jeffrey Picower, had phim and with him and him andreviously agreed to return some of the profits gained from the infamous Madoff scheme. The $7.2 billion returned represents over one third of the total losses from Madoff’s crime. In combination with the $2.6 billion already recovered this is almost half of the $20 billion lost.

This forward move on the part of Jeffrey Picower’s widow through means of negotiation has absolutely spared a lot of the victims an unnecessary and lengthy recovery process. Mrs. Picower released a prepared statement saying that she hoped that this settlement would honor would Jeffrey would’ve wanted, which would’ve been to return the money so it can go directly to repay victims of Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.

Jeffrey Picower, a known philanthropist, was one of Madoff’s most successful investors. On October 25, 2009, Barbara discovered Jeffrey unconscious in the pool of their home located in Palm Beach Florida. He was rushed to the hospital, but pronounced dead, following an apparent heart attack.

Earlier in 2009, it was said that Jeffrey Picower was in fact a key beneficiary of Bernie Madoff’s 20 year long scheme. A trustee says that he “knew or should have known” that he was profiting from a form of fraud simply due to the impossibly high rates of return on his accounts.

Many websites have cropped up that allow a user to log on, browse a virtual list of signs and symptoms and can even make their own fairly accurate self-diagnosis. However there are still many questions and wonders about many different illnesses and medical problems. For this reason there has also been an entirely different type of website created, these sites are usually focused on particular illnesses such as cancer or diabetes. And they are most often centered around trying to understand different aspects of their own medical issues.

More and more often these days, due to these types of sites, we are seeing general members of the population with no medical education, formulating not only the possible common factors previously unconsidered in some illnesses, but in some cases an actual diagnosis that may have been missed by an individual’s medical professional. More often than not, the individuals who share a common illness, and are seeking help, we’ll find each other on one form or another of a social media.

No one is suggesting that anyone post sensitive medical data, information that may cause issues with employment or for any other data that may cause an unnecessary vulnerability. But if we can use social medias to find out who may like our products or services, then why not use it to make important connections with others who may have previously suffered from a similar health issue.

It seems that direct questions to the President, when allowed, that are related to the new and improved health care system, are quickly shrugged off in favor of another, likely less relevant, topic altogether. There is no number to call, neighbors to fill out, or website to register on just yet and this may be what has some critics a little bit on edge.

It seems like everyone recognizes that there would be a substantial reorganization of the now, relatively small, aspect of the private health insurance market. But many worry that this could constitute an entire government takeover of the American health care system.

Others seem to feel like there is much in the works for the future of America’s health care issues, and are happy to wait patiently while the incredible amount of red tape is sorted out. But everyone, regardless of their economical status, has legitimate concerns about what a government run health care system has to offer.

The idea of ‘death panels’ and other enforced measures, has not now, nor will it ever sit right with the American people. It does seem though that everyone is in agreement that a more user friendly policy is in order for this proposed health care system to ever fully and truly go into effect.

Aside from the other obvious reasons why living near a highway may be undesirable, poor air quality, the noise, constant turnarounds in your driveway and other aspects that makes living life near one of America’s highways just in general unpleasant. There is yet one more reason to be concerned about residing in these areas.

A new study published by Environmental Health Perspectives, has shown that children who resided near our nation’s highways at their birth, have twice the risk of autism than those who resided ‘inland’ of larger congested areas of highways. In the research process, scientists interviewed and examined 304 children with autism.

Researchers want to make it clear that the study is not saying directly that exposure to either air pollution or traffic can cause autism, but they do believe that it could possibly be one of the factors contributing to the ever-increasing numbers of children affected by autism.

It is important to understand the other studies that have found just the opposite. One study found that the rates of odd schism or actually increased in neighborhoods that had higher than average educational or financial status.

Since there is still no cure for autism, researchers are clearly going to remain in search of possible causes until they can be found. Until then, it seems the best course of action is to continue to look for ways of prevention. A great leap ahead in research was found recently by teams of the neurologist who used MRI brain scans to identify males with autism with up to 92% accuracy.

Calling it a Christmas Miracle, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand stated at a recent press conference that along with her fellow Democratic Senator, Charles Schumer, they would be pushing to pass this bill on its upcoming second shot at a senate vote. Although success on the second vote may be a long shot, this particular legislation needs to be brought from the languishing state in Congress that it has remained in for many years.

Supporters are hoping that the smaller price tag up for vote will help to get it passed. Reduced down from $7.4 billion to $6.2 billion it is a significant, but not an incredible notable difference. However. other Republicans have voiced support for the smaller funded bill that were opposed to the last vote.

The problem seems to be that in order to get this bill into the vote by Christmas, it will have to overcome at least one hurdle. With the senate struggling with an imperative nuclear missile treaty, the debate may squash out the time it will take to vote on the Ground Zero bill before dismissal for the Christmas Holidays. It also means that with the bill being altered to reflect a smaller price, voters will also have to vote on the newer version as well.

Senators Gillibrand and Schumer are working double time to get their bill in front of lawmakers while both sets are still in Washington before the holidays puts yet another delay on this bill.

Test subjects were administered with sixty milligrams of Denufosol or a placebo, three times daily over a period of twenty four weeks. All test subjects were then observed for an additional period of twenty four weeks.

Among the control group, an increase in FEV1 was an additional and helpful observation by the end of this study. Although the reported results of Denufosol are small, they are a great indicator that scientist are headed in the right direction with their research utilizing this drug with this inherited disease. Some of the noticeable side effects of Denufosol were increased instances of rhinorrhea, sinusitis and headaches.

Since cystic fibrosis is actually an inherited disease of the sweat glands and mucus, the disease can affect not only lungs, but can also affect the liver, intestines, sinuses, sex organs and pancreas. With around one thousand new diagnosis’s per year in the U.S. alone, scientist are increasing their efforts to discover any measure that can provide some relief to those suffering from a literally suffocating illness. There is no cure for this inherited disease.

Studies have shown that a diet rich in vitamins like D, E, K and A can help children who have cystic fibrosis by providing their bodies with much needed nutrients they lack. This was information provided by a previous study that had clearly shown that reduced levels of vitamins E and A had been associated with increased rates of pulmonary exacerbation in patients with cystic fibrosis.

The Reform Party would suggest banning temporary workers who enter the country on a H1-B and L-1 visa programs, citing mass abuse of this system, and they suggest a temporary freeze be applied to all immigration with an exception of the spouses of U.S. citizens and minor children born to U.S citizens.

In so much as the U.S and Mexican border is concerned, the Reform Party would like to secure this border using additional technologies in order to better patrol the border and to enforce U.S immigration laws. In addition, they’d advocate the use of National Guard members in addition to any branch of the armed forces in order to secure and patrol this and other borders.

The Reform Party would put the onus of ensuring correct documentation of workers on employers, suggesting that they should be legally liable if workers are hired without proper documentation allowing them to both live and work in the U.S. This party also suggests that new immigrants to the country should be forced to learn English, the country’s history, and to learn about the government as well as American values and traditions — all in order to better assimilate them into American culture.

Immigrants often come to the U.S in order to secure better lives for themselves and their families. Luxuries such as Aaron Basha jewelry will be within reach, but the Reform Party wants to ensure the continuation of American culture and economy without diluting it unnecessarily with immigrants.

The Republican Party was created in 1854. Many progressives who found their voice in Abraham Lincoln considered it the anti-slavery party. Now members of the Republican Party are known as capitalists and success business people.

This party usually consists of those in middle-class, business or socially conservative people. They tend to believe in having lesser involvement with the government on private matters. Republicans tend to believe that the state has the responsibility of deciding matters within their boarders and the federal government shouldn’t interfere only it involves or affects other states.

If you believe that the government’s main responsibility is to defend this country from foreign invasion, dealing with foreign countries and providing the same standard then you my friend is a Republican.

Republicans believe that “tax-and-spend” is a horrible thing. They have the mind set that the wealthy and larger companies carry a large tax burden. They want the economy to grow and to do that they encourage businesses with tax incentives. They also believe that dealing with the needs of the poor should be handled through private charities because welfare isn’t an issue for the federal government.

If you feel that the government should allow the economy to regular without any support or subsidies from our government. Then you belong to the Republican Party. They usually lean towards laissez-faire capitalism. This pretty much means “leave it be as it is.”

The platform for the Republican Party is where they state their positions on the important issues. This is where they go to discuss education, simpler tax system, tax reform, anti-abortion, anti-gay-marriage and so on.

Just make your choice wisely. After all, once you’ve picked your party, it’s time to vote for whom you feel should be come the next President of the United States.

In 1996 as Perot emerged as a feasible candidate, so too did the movement that became known as the Reform Party. Perot awakened the imagination of Americans who had lost their taste for politics. Many people felt that important issues that affected them directly were not being addressed.

While the Reform Party of today certainly cannot be written off, it has gone through many changes. Initially Ross Perot’s message was so powerful, that Republicans adopted some his expressed concerns in its Contract With America. Despite its initially unified presence, splits in the Reform Party soon became evident.

The Reform Party’s viability as a political organization was boosted by Jesse Ventura’s win in 1998. Since then it has been racked by infighting which has somewhat diminished its luster in the public eye. Despite this, the Party has continued to grow, attracting not only new volunteers but also candidates.

The Party has been helped in part by a return to its initial agenda at its convention in 2002. Many feel that the Reform Party has been operating under the huge shadow cast by its founder Ross Perot. In fact, some detractors feel that this has largely restricted the party’s attempts to pose a serious challenge to the established political order. Perot for his part has stayed out of internal squabbles.

The Party remains active in politics and maintains its position on sensitive social issues. Some attribute the success of the Tea Party and similar movements to the efforts of the Reform Party. There is no doubt that the Party has a place in American politics.

If there was a reason to begin yet more ‘big brother’ controversy it may be now. With the FCC prepared to pass a very controversial list of rules that will initiate the dividing of internet access capabilities. The difference being one of fixed line providers or wireless providers.

The prepared rules could prevent these fixed line providers from blocking applications and specific websites. The new rules would also allow wireless companies more leeway in deciding what services customers can access. Those who stated support for the new rules have also said they plan to attempt to satisfy both sides.

However, analysts predict that should the proposed should rules be passed in the next session, it will only trigger endless months or even years of further debate on the subject. The new rules are said to have been initiated with protecting consumers from Internet abuse initially, but also agree that is to encourage further Internet innovations.

Some companies are hopeful that is, the regulations were to go into effect it may at least provide some level of security and increased certainty for the future. It will provide the companies that regularly build important web of locations with equal treatment among broadband networks, which is incredibly important to the checks and balances of Internet algorithms.

Critics say the policy is full of loopholes and claims the entire list of proposed new rules are nothing more than “fake net neutrality”. Democratic Sen. At London’s Heathrow airport, officials offered to send in the UK Army to assist. Officials at Heathrow refused and have defended furiously their management of the crisis.

Last week, as 5 inches of snow hit the ground and just under one hour, Heathrow had no choice but to cancel hundreds of flights. Although both runways have been reopened the Airlines warned that traffic has been significantly slowed.

This unusual seasonal outbursts of early wintry mixes has confused and confounded many who claim to not remember having these temperatures and this much snow, this early in the year for many years.

Although Heathrow advises that the airport will soon be in full swing again, the tents erected at Heathrow Airport to provide waiting passengers accommodation, may also be sending an unsettling message.

Many international travelers such as those going through Frankfurt, Paris and even Sweden have been much in agreement that Heathrow’s situation is far worse than any of the other European countries who are bogged down into wintry mix last week.

Some passengers have begun to seek travel by other means such as cross-country trains inviting one possible. Some critics, however, have said that the real problem was not so much the bad weather but possibly the bad management.

Although the European commission claims to be concerned about the disruption, they’ve also stated that they are confident that Europe’s travel structure will soon be flowing smoothly once again.

The Executive Committee

This Committee’s role is that of managing the Party’s activities and daily functions which requires numerous meetings. While the frequency sometimes changes depending on needs, the norm is every two weeks. The eleven members of the Reform Party Executive Committee come from elected officers of the National Committee and one each from the seven regions.

National Committee

This Committee is primarily responsible for electing national officers. The Party’s finances also fall within its purview. The representatives are selected delegates from the different states. No state is allowed more than three delegates.

National Convention

Having the greatest responsibility in the Party, the National Convention is where candidates are selected to run as President and Vice President. It also amends the Party’s national rules when necessary. The need to meet only once every four years is tied to the election period. Interestingly, the number of delegates any State can send as representatives to the Convention is dependent on the State’s seats in Congress. That is, States with two seats can send two representatives, and a State with 15 seats can send 15 representatives.

Standing & Special Committee

They meet the most often, generally once per week if necessary. The Reform Party’s Standing and Special Committee serves a number of different functions including investigating and researching issues. This Committee also drafts documents to address issues they want to take on.

The Reform Party possesses well-oiled machinery. It uses its Committees to meet set objectives as it works to change the political landscape.

His old-school style, complete with suspenders and bow tie, may have been what the older generations so happily in tune and loyal to his show. Although many may miss his blunt style, and controversial line of questioning, critics have said that it was high time that Larry give over his slot to a more pop culture figure was less seemingly old-fashioned techniques.

There is much questioning and concern over who may win the time slot that Larry vacates, but there is no doubt that viewers are hungry for an inquisitive and forthright style when it comes to this type of political forum. It may be unfortunate circumstances for Larry, that this form of news no longer seems to fit in with the age of the Internet style.

Everyone from coders to consumers seem to have caught on to the application frenzy that has swept the Internet and mobile devices for the past couple years. Everything from Facebook games to walking mobile GPS has become a must-have in Internet and mobile applications.

The dominance of the Democrats and Republicans of American politics often overshadows less mainstream parties. There is still a significant segment of society that does not understand the principles, or indeed the politics of the Reform Party. In time, the message may find greater traction among an increasingly disillusioned population.

In its efforts to support third parties and independents, the Reform Party encourages persons who are willing to serve in government to come forward. To the Reform Party anyone who shares their values regardless of whether they are centrists or conservatives can receive their support. In short, anyone seeking political office who is seen as an alternative to the main parties is welcome.

The main requirement is that any potential candidate not only focuses on their own campaign but also the campaigns of others. In addition, they are expected to help work towards the welfare and success of the Reform Party. The Party believes that this helps strengthen the power of each member and the Party.

The Party is encouraging members to help ensure the success of third parties in a number of different ways. One is to encourage independent candidates to join the Reform Party. If they join, the benefit to them is another source of funding for their campaign and help from volunteers from the Reform Party.

The Party uses the Internet and social media outlets as well as the media to get their message out. They have a strong campaign machinery urging citizens to cast their votes. Since 1996, the Party has been able to field presidential candidates in each election.

The best way to join the Reform Party is to contact the particular affiliate in your State. These affiliates will be happy to provide all the information you need to become a member and start volunteering in your area. Finding State affiliates can be done by searching online as many have active web presences. If you live in a State where there seems to be no Reform Party affiliate, contact the main office. Active State affiliates can be found in California, Florida, Mississippi and New Jersey.

Once you become a member you can volunteer to help in various ways. These include assisting others to register and vote, and placing signs in your yard promoting the party and its candidates. The word can also be spread via call-in radio shows and by working at fund-raising events.

Members are also able to assist with finding candidates to run in local, regional and national elections. The main body of the Reform Party needs the help of its members to find independents to run in States where there is no ballot access. In those States where there is ballot access, members help to with fund-raising for candidates that have been identified to run on the Party ticket.

Ballot access refers to the regulations that determine who can run for political office. Each State has its own rules for setting ballot access.

Ignoring the risks to their reputations and careers, politicians from both main parties have seemingly embarked on self-destructive courses of action which have shed their parties in a poor light. It’s never a good thing to hear or read that a senator has been caught in a sex sting. It makes their party look bad, it makes the country look bad, and it wreaks havoc on the façade that they’ve been living at home of pretending to be a happily married person. Engaging in such actions outside the home or office can lead to total bankruptcy.

It’s not just a financial bankruptcy that occurs. The subsequent media explosion and exposure also often offers a glimpse into the moral bankruptcy involved, as the politician, with dry eyes, laments their disgraceful actions which have led to this moment of shame. Leading implies having someone at the helm that is capable of recognizing that things need to be “worked out” long before they feel a need to go engage in less than respectable acts with another person. It is a rare news story that portrays this sort of true leadership, and as such, one can expect the bad news to continue.

When it comes to politics, it’s always good to know your information. For instance, understanding the difference between the caucus and primary election is pretty important.

When the presidential nominee is selected, doesn’t matter if it’s Democratic or Republican party, they’re selected by either caucuses or a primary. 19 states uses caucus in some form, while others just rely solely on the primary. Either way, this is used to find hand out delegates to each candidate. The first person to hit a certain number of delegates will win that nomination.

Caucus elections were the main selection process for picking and choosing presidential candidates at one point. Things changed in 1832 when the national conventions changed it and had caucuses as the method that most people preferred. When Richard Nixon won the Democratic nominee, beating Hubert Humphrey for presidency, the Democratic Party created a reform to make the process open to “rank-and-file participation.”

Most will define caucuses as a party that meets by precinct, district or county. Registered members can come together to discuss which candidate and choosing to select delegates that would move to the next round of party conventions. They’ll have the task of convincing people that they should join them. People will vote and the person with the most supports will win. Since this is more time consuming, not many people turn out to these meetings.

Primary elections are state-wide and conducted by each of the parties. For the most party they have four forms: open, voters from any party or none at all can come in and cast their votes, closed, only party members can vote, semi-open, registered voters or unaffiliated members can vote and semi-closed, voters can vote for the political party they’re affiliated with. The open primary is the most popular.

The nominating events are closed in both cases and open only to registered members of that party. In some cases the caucus can be open to Independent votes.

So the main concern for newbie’s is identifying political party symbols.

First, it’s important to know which symbol is what color. For liberal political views, the color is blue, red is for the conservative and white for third party or independent. Green represents the American political symbol.

To fully understand the political viewpoint, try and remember how the image on the symbol is facing. Is the symbol left-facing? That would mean it stands for liberalism. Right-facing means conservatism and if the symbol represents centrism and liberalism it will be right dab in the center.

Take a look at the symbol for the American Independent Party; it will have an image of an eagle. In the eagle’s left talons you’ll notice some arrows. The eagle will also be over a rose and it will have a banner saying it’s political party right at the bottom of the eagle.

For the Democratic Party, the symbol is a blue donkey facing left. While the donkey itself is blue, the head isn’t. It’s red.

The symbol for the Republican Party is an elephant facing right. The bottom half of the elephant will be red and the top half is blue. In the blue area you will also notice three stars.

If you see a symbol with a bald eagle against the American flag, that’s the Constitution Party.

Lastly is the Green Party. The symbol for this group is a green sunflower. You’ll notice that there’s an image of Earth on there as well and it has the sunflower’s leaves wrapped around it, protecting it.

The American Reform Party was the advocate for limited government and lowering taxes. However, it recently started to promote a coalition of third parties in the U.S. By joining the American Reform Party, you’ll be fulfilling its goal of political coalition.

To join the American Reform Party you will need to contact your state’s American Reform Party off. Let them know you’re looking to join the organization on either the state or national level. While there is a membership fee, it’s pretty low. With this, you get full access to news on party activities all through the United States.

Browse the Internet and other message boards on the American Reform Party and third parties prior to joining the organization. Online boards allows users talk with other members throughout the country.

After joining the American Reform Party, this is your chance to get involved with creating a huge platform at the national committee meeting.

Now it’s time to find independent candidates you feel would fit perfectly with the agenda the American Reform Party believes in. Those with a more conservative viewpoint could join without getting in the way of political independence.

It’s good to work with third parties in your state in hopes of pushing for ballot access. You even have the option of working with members of the Green, Libertarian and Constitution Party. Doing this helps with getting signatures and finding people that would be interested in having a better choice when it comes time to vote.

You will need to be super organized and have some pretty great ideas. There are just a few steps that can take you from just being an ordinary person to a Democratic candidate.

First thing to do is head over to your town hall and make sure you register as a Democrat. Then you’ll have to file all the necessary paperwork with either the federal or state election commission. Without the proper paper work you won’t be able to start taking money for your campaign. It’s always good to check with the commission’s office to make sure you have everything in order.

Next is the somewhat tricky part- getting support from the delegates to get nominated. These delegates are representing different towns that will select the main candidate for the Democratic Party. Think of this part as an election before the main election.

Start building your organization early. Try and recruit a staff, volunteers and start brainstorming ideas that you plan on bringing up during the platform. It’s really important to get everything planned out before anything.

Another big part in the planning process is creating your budget and sticking to it. Try and see if you can find people to donate money.

Once everything is in order, get a hold of the secretary of state’s office and have them put you on the ballot. Make sure you stay in touch to make sure you get on the ballot.

Now it’s time to convince people why you should be elected. All thing things you’ve learned along the way will help you in the long run.

Other candidates running for the election like Jim Priest considers this a waste of time and money and only calls them a publicity stunt to vow confused voters. It is also being called a waste of the tax payers money. It is rather to fight a battle in which you have any chance of winning than the case rather than wasting time and resources.

Scott Pruitt’s debate is that if the federal government can ask citizens to buy health insurance policies from failing banks, tomorrow it may also people to buy Chevrolets from general motors so that the company does not crash. It is unfair to decide on behalf of the people. Other politicians are betting on fights against Child predators and meth to get them votes against the central government. Even Scott Pruitt like other candidates is against child predators and meth and is also willing to fight for them. Its up to the voters to decide who they like.

The two candidates are Jari Askins and Mary Fallin from democrats and republicans respectively. Askins was also the fist woman to hold the post of a judge in Olkahoma court rooms of the Parole Board and the Pardon boards. She was also meant to to be the first woman to grace the Oklahoma House as a speaker. This first was never meant to be because the republicans lost in 2004. On the other hand Fallin has broken some records of her own She was the firs woman lieutenant governor of Oklahoma and also the first republican to hold this place. One of these woman’s is definitely going to make history by becoming the first woman governors of Oklahoma. And it is going to change rules from here on about electing women in governmental positions and break many glasses. Th current governor from the democrats is Brad Henry who has spent eight long years in the Oklahoman office. In New mexico too two women are running for the post of the New Mexico’s position of a governor. But these few rare women vs women contests are rarely seen in the politic of United States. Hence it is good to when ever some state has a woman versus woman fight. Every ones looking at Okalahoma to see what further improvements what will these kinds of competitions make in the monotonous American politics. Oklahoma has other woman firsts, it was the first state to in the country when Kate Barnard wan named commissioner for the Charities and Corrections facility. What ever the result, the records will be re written.

A government group is pushing for this ruling to be passed by a referendum that cites to a case in New Jersey. Here a guy was let free after abusing his wife citing Islamic sharia law as a law that permits him to do those things. Thou the man did not do such a horrible crime that the court could have punished him but just the mention of this Islamic law has caused people all over America to look at this as a threat to the American process of prosecution. This was a case of sexual abuse which went a little out of hand. THi also has caused other law makers and practices to block this from happening in the Oklahoman court rooms. Thou this in not going to happen anytime soon, it will set an example for other states to follow. Muslims make just around 1 percent of the society. Hardly any court cases appear in which Muslims have had any hand. But in an attempt to completely stop this from happening and not push court judges to decide between the law of the government and the law of the Muslim world.

This fact is written in the famous book “Tiny Tracts Put Political Zip in 2010 Elections” by Dave Levinthal. This was released on Opensecrets.org and has cause quite a stir with its hair raising facts about he American political scene. Among lots of other things one thing it mentioned about Okalahoma was the realization that Oklahoma is indeed one of the big power houses of America that plays a significant part in the Republicans or the democrats run for the elections all around the state. In comparison Levinthal has also compare zip codes of other cities powerful Manhattan and Hollywood with their politically powerful zip codes are among the nations the nations few partisan codes. These are the places from where most of the election money comes from and helps politicians run the government. Of the $23 million contributes by the entire state, the zip 6831 which lies in Greenwich has contributed more than $3 million on its own. Thou nothing illegal happening here but it just lets us common people know the business of elections and what and all can money buy.

These irregularities and frauds are allegedly growing bigger with each passing election. It seems that this is the only way a party can win is by pulling strings that are illegal. Eric Holder has been advocating voter fraud in a big way and seems to be getting no where. He is fighting a failed battle with no where to go but down. The same thing that happened to the stimulus package given to the corporations to stay afloat by the Obama government is happening here. The congress which is currently in power can go into the next elections with the hopes that it has a way to alter what people feel about the government by getting their votes altered. Voting is the only way that common citizens have that can change the top seats of power and also the seats of the governors of the states. Out trust in the ruling party is inversely proportional to the amount of fraud and stupid bills that are passed by each passing election. Hence the current government has everything to fear for its continual. But our vestiges of trust are getting shattered each day with the news of votes being altered to get the way the congress wants.

Perhaps a more accurate description of the mens’s movement would be that it was, rather than a backlash to feminism, a response to it. The men who took part were usually following their societally scripted role quite closely; many had good jobs, were successful, and helped to support families. However, they found this life that society had designated for them as the ideal to be spiritually and emotionally unsatisfying. Much of the motivation behind the men’s movement was about a desire, in the wake of feminist critique, to–again, in the words of Schwalbe–”define ‘man’ as an identity that implied positive moral qualities.” The men’s movement was about attempting to reclaim the masculine identity and give it a worthy place in society.

What makes all this interesting is that these critiques have been followed up by more recent research, as discussed by the writer Michael Kimmel. Kimmel has written books such as Guyland and Manhood In America, where he offers insights into how the nature of men’s lives in US society has developed and changed over time. In Guyland, he explores in great detail how young men coming of age feel a great pressure to be “masculine.” But, paradoxically, they lack a clear and acceptable model of what being masculine would entail. Young men end up looking to each other for confirmation about what manhood should look like, and the results are predictably immature. This leads to “Guyland,” a protracted stage when young men reject society’s traditional maturity. Namely, rather than building a career, a family, and a place in the community, they spend a decade or more playing video games, job-hopping, and “hooking up” at parties. Men’s dissatisfaction with their place in society has not been resolved.

Thomas Paine is a fascinating figure from the history of American politics. Born in February of 1737, he published numerous pamphlets and contributed valuable insights to the political discourse of his time; the depth of his impact on American society is impossible to know.

Tomas Payne was born in rural England. In early life, he attended grammar school and then was apprenticed to his father, who was a corset stay maker. After a brief stint as a privateer, he became a master stay-maker and opened up a shop. He married in 1759, but his wife died of complications from her first pregnancy. In England he was involved in a brief second marriage and various business and civic ventures until, legend has it, Benjamin Franklin suggested that he immigrate to America. After a difficult passage that took him some weeks to recover from, he gained citizenship in the colonies and started work editing Pennsylvania Magazine–a post he would follow with an illustrious career as a propagandist and writer.

The pamphlet Common Sense, first published in 1776, was a breakaway success in American society. It was also one of the essential political texts of the American revolution. Other works he wrote include a book against deism. Many of Paine’s political contributions would be considered still relevant, but astonishingly radical, even by today’s standards. He was also heavily involved in the French revolution, and, without the ability to speak French, was elected to the French national convention in 1792. Paine’s involvement in French political life continued through the regime of Napoleon, a political figure of of whom Paine was extremely critical.

Thomas Payne died in 1809 and was buried in a sparsely attended service; his open criticism and mockery of the Christian faith had lost him many friends in society. Despite this, he is remembered as one of the great contributors to American political discourse and American society, as well as the revolution.

A lot of Americans are concerned these days with keeping politics local, but few of them are aware that this concern literally dates back to the dawn of democracy. For the ancient Greeks, the polis, usually translated city state, was the center of civic, religious, and political life. Not every polis had the same system of government, but an important factor in the polis was the fact that they governed themselves. A primary function of all the poleis was to maintain freedom and autonomy, from other city states or from larger powers. When the Romans and Macedonians eventually took over Greece, many of the poleis fought hard to maintain their autonomy in local political affairs wherever they could.

The Greeks new something about city planning, and they knew something about democracy. Each polis would set up its own political system. A few of these were dominated by an aristocracy of the most wealthy landholders, or even by some form of royalty. However, most polis political systems were democracies, often with much more egalitarian organization (between the citizens; not much good can be said for the condition of Greek slaves) than exist in modern political systems.

In the modern age, taking over other people’s governments doesn’t quite have the same cache that it had in ancient Greece. Generally, anyone doing it has to offer some plausible explanation that frames it as some form of self defense. We don’t have a great system of slaves to build our society, but we do have the advantage of technology which accomplished hundreds of times more than what a Greek slave could in a given day. The federations of city states failed to protect ancient Greece, but perhaps it is not foolhardy to believe that some form of modern political configuration could do better. And, in doing so, perhaps we could see politics truly return to the local.

The number one rule of local political involvement is, show up. You can find out when and where to show up by looking at your city website, or calling your political friend, or even just walking in city hall. On a local political scene, you aren’t competing against millions of straight ticket voters. If there are ten people at any given meeting with the same opinion at any given meeting, those people will probably win. You have ten friends, right?

The number two rule of local political involvement is, listen. Yes, you should probably listen during all of those incredibly dry meetings, but that’s not what I mean. Listen to your friends. Listen to your neighbors. You wouldn’t be here unless there were something important to you in local politics; maybe you’re concerned about how your child’s school is funded, or the liquor store that just opened down the street, but something matters. Find out what matters to the people around you. Pay attention to what they care about, when they talk about it, and when it comes up at meetings. People will appreciate your vigilance, and support you in your political efforts when you need it. The greatest factor alienating the American people from government is their keen awareness that it is not by or for them; this is your chance to reclaim.

Lastly, pay attention to a few matters of form. Most local political meetings follow bizarre and complicated etiquette, which you can learn about by reading Robert’s Rules Of Order, looking at your council bylaws, and asking questions to the people who seem nice.

Now, keep your chin up, and go take your local political institutions by storm!

Lets just take the capitalists government which works on the basis that all the money belongs to the government and that is what drives the economy. Or socialistic government is going the way of capitalist government. In a socialistic government, the money belongs to the government first, then the government distributes it to the people to spread among themselves to increase the economy. Obama want to get what he spends on the people right away. At a recent interview he accepted that their government accepts if a billion is spend on the people, the government accepts this million back. They are right when it comes to rich individuals who do not spend their money and stop the economy, but the view that Obama and his government is not good for the poor people. Hence they stop from spending the billion they should spend fearing that they will never get it back and it is better in their hands instead.

What Domhoff calls “change agents” are people who are deeply devoted to creating social and political change, to the point that they will give up having a normal life. Change agents have to understand the differences between themselves and everybody else. Everybody else will not step outside their routine, and look for a way to change the world for the better, unless something disrupts that routine. Change agents must be patient and wait for something to naturally disrupt those routines, or they must find ways to disrupt the routines without alienating the people they wish to ally themselves with politically.

The research tells us that those labeled “extremists” can be effective agents for social change, because extremists can also be moral exemplars. However, it warns that those extremists who are too far outside the mainstream are not listened to at all; they will be politically ignored. Therefore, the goal for an activist is to be just extreme enough to be effective. The research also shows that a small group of very organized, very disciplined, and very motivated individuals can be extremely effective. Such groups gain a lot from the strength of their ethical beliefs, and from their shared understanding of how the political world works.

Lastly, according to Domhoff, the research indicates that to be successful, change agents must be extremely respectful of the existing structures and culture of the society they are trying to change.

Originalists basically believe that that the constitution should be read as though the original document is good enough not to need a lot of modification. They sometimes argue that the difficulty of the amendment process (and the fact that amendments take place in the legislative branch, rather than the judicial) acts as a stimulant for serious public political discourse. Originalists try to read the constitution as having whatever meaning its framers originally intended it to have. Originalism is similar to a school of constitutional interpretation called “strict constructionism.” However, it differs in that strict constructionists will take the words for their exact, literal meaning, rather than attempting to discern what they were originally intended to mean.

Non-originalists believe in taking a bit more latitude with their interpretations. The most common name for non-originalism is the living constitutionalists theory. The living constitution camp contends that there are gaps in the constitution which must be filled. Specifically, the constitution empowers states to make any law not expressly forbidden in the constitution; that could be a lot of laws. Another way to explain these gaps would be to say that there are laws which are obviously bad, which the states could pass, and which would (according to an originalist interpretation) not be un-constitutional; however, we have no tool but the constitution, and it seems like one of the jobs the constitution ought to do. Critics of the living constitution theory contend that it offers an opportunity for judges to assert their own political views and unduly influence society.

Noam Chomsky is a singular figure on the American political scene. Love him or hate him, he has successfully stuck around for half a century as one of American society’s most vocal, serious, and controversial political thinkers. He has steadily produced thorough critiques of American society and political policy for decades, and he is considered to be a major 20th century political writer and philosopher.

Born in 1928, Chomsky received an intellectually rich upbringing. He attended an experimental, progressive school “from infancy,” and an academic, college-oriented high school. Even outside of school he was surrounded by lively, informed political discussion. He didn’t start his academic career as a political activist, or even with the intent to become one. He started out in linguistics, and he was very, very good at it. In fact, he was so good that his work was considered transformational to the field, although even in linguistics his work is controversial. He received his doctorate in linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1955, after four years as a junior fellow at Harvard, and was immediately hired (in 1955) by MIT. Throughout his career, he has given many prestigious lectures, and received many prestigious awards, for both his political and his linguistic work.

Chomsky’s political activism, as with many individuals of his generation, began with his dissatisfaction over the Vietnam war. Unlike most who protested the conflict in Vietnam, Chomsky made societal critique his major life work. He saw that from his position of relative comfort and security, as a tenured professor at an elite school, he had opportunities to speak out that many others did not. Besides participating in protests and rallies, Chomsky has produced a large body of work in political analysis. A few of these many works include, Manufacturing Consent (with E.S. Herman), The Culture of Terrorism, Year 501, and Rethinking Camelot: JFK, the Vietnam War and US Political Culture.

American society has a funny relationship with big oil. We find oil corporations, and oil politics, to be suspect. According to a TED talk by Lisa Margonelli of the New America Foundation Energy Policy Initiative, we’ve felt this way about oil politics ever since the time of Standard Oil. Standard oil was arguably the first multi-national corporation, and in the 1860s, it was stunning–maybe even terrifying.

The United States has four or five percent of the world’s population, and we have two percent of the world’s remaining oil reserves (while more than half of the world’s remaining oil reserves are found in the middle east). In contrast, our consumption of oil is a quarter of the world’s oil production. Margonelli points out two other facts about the place of oil in our society that are particularly stunning. First, much of what we pay for our oil dependence, we don’t pay in consumer prices; for every gallon of gas that is purchased at the pump results in something like twenty-nine cents of in health care costs. It has also been well established from many sources that often political or societal instability is the result of international oil interests disrupting local politics; Chad, Sudan, and Nigeria are all filled with tragic examples of this.

Second, keeping up a car that runs is more important to getting and keeping a job than having a GED. This reveals how deeply structural our society’s dependence on gasoline is. If we are to break our dependence on foreign oil, American workers must have other, better options for transport. There are many political policies we could enact to encourage this. Insurance companies could give discounts to drivers who drive less miles, cities and neighborhoods could start car-sharing programs, and communities can work to become more bike friendly by enforcing traffic laws and making sure there are bike lanes. These options would encourage people to walk, bike, carpool, and take public transport more, and having more options available would help American workers who are having a tough time in the recession to get back on the job.

However, this is only on first glance. Looking deeper, many of our political opportunities are not so sterling as they appear. How likely are you, really, to improve society with a vote? Can you improve society more by voting than you can by being careful where you spend your dollars? Where you work, and what you do in that work? More than you can by staying home and spending time with your children? It’s a difficult question. Many of us wonder if politics are a way in which our society can be improved at all. This is an age when millions of dollars can’t buy ad time, if the advertisement in question would be bad for the business interests that keep the station running; say goodbye to ads against eating disorders. This is an age when organizations like ACORN pay people per voters they register, whether those voters are real or not. When both public discourse and grassroots activism have been so grotesquely hijacked, it seems reasonable to wonder what kind of society we have left.

Even worse, business and politics fade into one another more obviously than they have at any point in history since the time of Tammany Hall. When so much has been taken over by the mechanisms of greed, trustworthy organizations and strong citizen activism are more important–and more precarious–than ever.

Our society is increasingly reliant on its technology, at every level; politics is no different. Ours has changed the way we monitor our politicians, the way we engage in public discourse, the way we learn about politics and society–and the way we vote. Not who we vote for–how we vote. We use screens instead of paper. Most voters don’t think of it often, but behind those screens, there’s software, and hardware. It’s some of the most political technology imaginable. If the quality of our society–the quality of our community, the quality of our lives–depends on our votes, why should we leave those votes in untrustworthy hands (or chips, or removable storage media)?

The systems that maintain our societal values are only as good as our ability to keep them in check. In political systems, there is real, tangible power to be had. Despite this, only 27 states require that electronic voting systems leave a paper trail. In the remaining 23 states, once your vote goes into the computer system, you–and your society–are at the mercy of whoever made that system, and whoever is able to break into it and change the information that’s been entered. Instead of having to destroy large volumes of physical evidence, hijacking an election now only requires keystrokes. One is forced to wonder what would be required to hijack the political system at large. One documentary, titled “Hacking Democracy,” demonstrated that this is astonishingly possible, finishing its reporting by showing an in-use voting machine hacked on screen.

Maybe you’ve voted in every election since Nixon, or maybe you’re looking forward to your first. In either case, when you get to the voting box, remember that there are more choices in front of you than the candidates. Not to mention the time is dramatically reduced, you could use that time for something more productive. Florida vacation rentals range from magnificent condominiums to poolside villas to beachfront homes to country cottages. You do not have to decide which is best for you, visit them all. Lets not have a society where the best hacker wins; lets not have a society whose entire political system is hostage to the latest technology.

A drive to improve the future of society by safeguarding environmental resources has long been associated with left-leaning politics. However, an important possibility that few people consider is that the politics of environmental conservatism can be compatible with fiscal responsibility. This powerful combination, seldom explored in politics, could offer American society the future it’s looking for.

Fiscal responsibility is incredibly important in creating a healthy and mature society. With both national and consumer debt skyrocketing, more and more Americans are interested in a national budget that’s balanced, and a tax system that is simply and fairly designed to keep it that way. The need to preserve the earth’s resources for the future of society has been so often discussed that it hardly needs to be re-iterated. It should go without saying that if our air, water, and food sources are poisoning our bodies, no amount of money can make up for what we would loose.

So what environmental threats can be dealt with in a fiscally responsible way? Energy independence means developing local alternatives with American workers, and offers an opportunity to create clean new alternatives. This would improve society by bolstering the domestic economy. Certain practices that are givens in current politics–like corporate welfare, which protects organizations that use resources which should be protected for all–could be eliminated for great benefit to society.

The politics of environmental responsibility doesn’t have to be about increasing expenses. It doesn’t have to be about expensive government programs, and it doesn’t have to be about passing the cost of environmental degradation on to tax payers. Rather, it could be a matter of improving society by increasing innovation and creating American jobs. It could be about developing a political structure that, instead of being a drain, improves society by serving the people, and by preventing violence against the environment.

In America, as in many other places, the immigration issue is an intense part political scene. As a people we have not forgotten, and do not wish to forget, that our society is based on the contributions of many generations of immigrants. Few of us are so cold-hearted as to believe we should deny our fellow human-beings a chance at a better life. However, most of the western world is struggling with the challenges that an influx of foreign nationals will bring, and no amount of goodwill can make it reasonable to ignore these problems.

So what is the face of immigration around the world? The societies of Europe have made a trade-off, taking relatively high benefits and security for the employed and unemployed alike in exchange for the potential stagnation of high unemployment rates and low job mobility. Arguably, this has resulted in a profound sense of entrapment among the immigrant class. This would be demonstrated by the riots of 2005, when immigrants in France burned or otherwise destroyed massive amounts of property in their own communities for no apparent reason. Looking to the North American continent, we can see it is not less inhabited than it was during the years of European colonization. To revisit that colonization; it was accomplished with smallpox, the trail of tears, the wholesale destruction of many societies and cultures, and a plethora of other battles, literal and metaphorical.

In short, the resettling of displaced peoples has never been easy, and we should not expect it to be now. It is difficult to set one’s self up as a gatekeeper against people who, like us, work hard and want nothing but a better future for their families, but it would be irresponsible to ignore the consequences of not setting ourselves up as gatekeepers. Possibly, for once, the answer is found in the words of political philosopher Slavoj Zizek; to “tear down the walls and let them all in” is an easy, empty demand. The only true solution is to change society so that people will no longer desperately try to escape their own world.

One of the great problems in the modern political and societal discourse in the United States has been a lack of education. Despite history, government, and citizenship courses, very few high school graduates are able to accurately use terms such as republican, democratic, socialist, and federalist. They may be able to use the terms according to common usage, but in the history of western thought, many words have taken on very specific meanings, and those meanings are useful concepts to have in political discourse. This article is designed to give the serious, independent student of political theory an idea of how to start; it is focused on developments in political theory from the Renaissance to the present.

Ideally, Renaissance reading should include Machiavelli’s letter to Vettori, The Prince, and Discourses on Titus Livy. If you have to pick one, the Discourses are recommended. While The Prince focuses on how to be an effective tyrant, Discourses is about republicanism; it’s the other side of the coin, and tends to be vastly under appreciated. After Machiavelli, you may wish to spend time on John Calvin’s On Civil Government and Thomas Hobbes’ Leviathan. Calvin is more widely known for his contributions to theology than anything else, but On Civil Government deals with the proper relationship between church and state.

Both Hobbes and Machiavelli are usually read as excellent arguments, worth considering even though nearly everyone disagrees with them now. To the conversationalist educated in political theory, it can be amazing how often the arguments of the past are duplicated. . . and it can really raise the level of the conversation to point out exactly who has had these ideas before, and when. Following Hobbes, Americans in particular will want to read Locke’s Second Treatise of Government, since Locke’s ideas made a really substantial contribution to American political structure. You may even want to read the United States constitution as a companion piece to Locke, to observe the influence that he had.

Ever since democracy got it’s start in the ancient world, ideas have abounded about how to make a society better. In our time, one of the most unique approaches comes from the political organizing style that finds its heritage with Saul Alinsky and the IAF, or Industrial Areas Foundation. Some of the organizations from this tradition have been ineffective, or gone horribly wrong; almost everyone has heard of the train-wreck that ACORN has become. However, what most people are unaware of is that ACORN is one of many organizations that came out of the IAF–and that several of those organizations have accomplished inarguably positive results for society.

IAF organizing uses a principle called the iron rule; never do for others what they can do for themselves. Of course, the obvious corollary is that what others genuinely can’t do for themselves, it’s reasonable to help them out with. Based on these principles, the East Brooklyn Congregations started something called the Nehemiah project. Starting in 1982, Nehemiah built nearly three thousand new townhomes for working class families in what were then some of the most blighted portions of Brooklyn, real estate now worth hundreds of millions. But were these homes simply given away? Of course not; that would violate the iron rule. The Nehemiah program did use some government funds, but they minimized this, even to the rather bizarre, politically motivated protests of city officials.

The project met with skepticism from experts, as it went squarely against the usual welfare society ethos. The local leaders of East Brooklyn Congregations chose to sell the homes only to those who came up with a five thousand dollar down payment, although they were advised to make the down payment only thirty-five hundred dollars, which was what it was thought their buyers could afford. The EBC didn’t want to make the mistake of giving something too easily to people when they could do more for themselves, and by doing more, have a greater sense of ownership and accomplishment.

“Family values” is a familiar catchphrase for politicians to use, but one seldom sees anyone trying to quantitatively understand the value of families. In our current youth-worshiping society, families are a bit dowdy. They’re looked on more as a lifestyle choice than a contribution to the common good. Young adults are staying single for a very long time, without any sense that they’re being done a favor by the few individuals of their generation who choose to make the sacrifices childrearing requires.

We seldom hear discussion of what happens on a widespread social and political level if people don’t have kids. Virtually all of us require the society we live in; we could not survive without it, we would literally die. When we are old, we will need it even more; we will need someone young to maintain the roads and the electric lines, someone we can pay to keep up our garden. Personal accountability is essential when it comes to retirement planning, but even the most stringent individualist assumes that there will still be a society for them to barter with. They assume there will be a society they can be independent within, if such a thing is possible.

And this approach is reasonable, mostly, because even with declining birth rates across all first world societies, there’s not a serious risk of humanity voluntarily extinguishing itself by failing to populate. However, it’s worth calling attention to the fact that parenting is a public service, as well as a personal choice. As a society, we give great lip-service to parenting–especially mothering–while at the same time, motherhood is the single most accurate predictor of poverty in old age. Economically, motherhood trumps gender, education level, and lifetime working hours when it comes to predicting poverty; it may be a service we appreciate, but it also seems to be a sacrifice we expect.

And that’s why it may be important to consider another statistic about population, economic sacrifice, and women’s place in society. All over the globe, on average the more education a woman has, the less children she will have.

It’s always a hard question, how to protect society from it’s most problematic members. Prisons are expensive at best, and ineffective at worst. In the 60′s, groups like the Black Panthers and the Weather Underground organized around prisoner’s rights. Then, psychology professor Phillip Zimbardo did pioneering work that suggested prisons will be inhumane places until their very structure is changed. All of this leaves the lay person, who is also the citizen, wondering; surely there is some solution to this that will be better for society than what we’re actually doing?

What we are doing, at present, is clearly not without disadvantages to society. The United States, which has only five percent of the world’s population, has a quarter of the prisoners in the world. What kind of a track record is that for a society that prides itself on being free? We even fare poorly according to supposedly communist societies; the United States presently has more of its people imprisoned than China. According to Mark Kleiman, a professor of public policy,

Kleiman asserts that the worst thing about our prison system is that it is inconsistent. He says that “our criminal justice system doesn’t know what every good parent knows; that you change people’s behavior by giving them clear rules, and by enforcing those rules consistently and quickly and fairly.” He asserts that, of this brief and obvious directive, the United States criminal justice system misses every salient point. We over punish, and we do it extremely inconsistently. And how does this impact society? Everyone knows that they can probably get away with it, any given time. Hence, an enormous prison population, and at the same time, a society that retains its high crime rates.

Kleiman also touches on the politics of America’s criminal justice system. With many of the prosecuting roles either directly voted in or appointed by voting officials, there’s a strong bent towards getting the revenge. According to Kleiman, this can get in the way of protecting society against future crime.

For the last thirty years, the United States criminal justice system has been trying to increase punishments so much that the risk of getting caught and doing the time, however small, is an adequate deterrent. This approach would make a some sense if human beings were completely logical, but we are not. The criminal justice systems in our society are not designed to reflect what we know about the psychology of real human beings. For instance, human beings respond to immediacy. Unfortunately, harsh sentences mean that our due process is long and drawn out. We respond more to punishments that we know absolutely for sure are going to hit us than to punishments that might or might not hit us, but the average probation violation leads to almost no penalty at all. When probation violations are punished, the punishment can leap directly from nothing at all (say, for the first six or eight violations) straight to months in prison.

These harsh sentences carry a terrible cost, both to the taxpayers, and in the many lives that never manage to recover themselves and become contributing members of society. Every person who is sentenced to twenty years in prison (or, as mandated by California’s three strikes law, twenty-five to life) represents twenty or twenty five people who can’t be incarcerated by just one year. It could be that that type of approach would represent a much better investment for society.

We, the people, like to think highly of journalistic integrity. We would like to see our journalists and our news outlets as being unbiased, clear, and true, our functional periscopes to parts of the world where we will never travel, let alone have the time to sort out the facts for ourselves. In school, this view of journalism is encouraged. Many see a free press as essential to “keeping politics honest,” if such a thing can be done, guardians of the free society. We depend on this function so heavily that it is almost tragic to see how many factors about the press go completely unrecognized by the public. The most pressing of these is informal censorship.

This censorship can take a number of forms, including the case where it’s a function of corporate politics. If a media outlet is under heavy corporate sponsorship, which all of the major ones are, that sponsorship will have an impact on content. Some citizen groups have found it impossible to buy–even when offering the same amount of money as their competitors–advertising time. This was simply because the advertisements they wanted to air, basically public service announcements against things like anorexia, consumerism, or too much TV time, seemed to run counter to the message the corporations who bought the rest of the advertising time.

It is incredibly problematic for society that we can see even more direct forms of censorship in the news media itself. There’s a particularly deep and longstanding tradition of censorship when it comes to war reporting. During World War I, then prime minister David Lloyd George once said to a major news editor, “if people really knew [the truth] the war would be stopped tomorrow.” Phillip Gibbs, a correspondent to the London Times in the same era who was later knighted for his services, stated that the truth was reported–”aside from the naked realism of horrors and losses, and criticism of the facts.”

The reality of de-facto censorship in the press is essential to confront if we are serious about honest politics and a free society.

According to a top UN official quoted in the Washington post, the Taliban is looking to get back into Afghanistan’s political scene. This is not surprising. Having dominated Afghani politics and governed the country for half a decade, they can at least lay claim to experience, and it’s clear that they are interested in power. What is surprising is that the west, or at least the UN, seems to view this as a good thing.

Some of their reasoning makes a lot of sense. After all, we’d all prefer to see legitimate political compromise and negotiation rather than shootings, bombings, and violence in general. Afghanistan’s fragile young democracy is still fully propped up by the threat of U.S. military violence, and the campaigns currently underway have not halted the high, high level of ongoing violence in Afghani society. Because of this, there’s immediate incentive to hope that all the interested parties will start participating in the nonviolent democratic political process. Still, it is a little disconcerting when officials get excited about political participation from a regime that was so terrible we thought it worthwhile to use violence to remove it from political power.

Of course, all of this may be irrelevant, because according to the Afghanistan Analysts Network, claims that the Taliban is interested in engaging in the current U.S.-legitimized Afghani government structure (a structure where nearly a fifth of the candidates up for the current election are female), are poorly supported. Part of the problem is that the government of Afghanistan doesn’t have a lot of clout throughout most of the country. It is primarily effective in the capital, giving organizations which aspire to national power little incentive to play by the rules. If anything, Afghanistan’s best hope for peace may come from fatigue. After violent rule, violent overthrow, and violent nation-building, even the Taliban may decide it’s time to strive for something new.

Leftist politicos are fond of pointing out that income disparity in the United States is increasing. They act as if the modern political conditions, the globalization of trade, or some erosion of society has created these conditions out of the blue. They point to the relative strength of the middle class during the 1940s through the 1960s, in support of this, as if asking, why can’t things be the way they were then?

In fact, American society has a long history of strong economic devisions. In the early part of the last century, a statistician named Willford I. King did a very comprehensive study and called it The Wealth and Income of the People of the United States. He published it in 1915, a time when the United States society was just starting to surpass Britain for wealth. This study includes some of the earliest systematically gathered data on wealth and income. King was hoping for different results, but he discovered that the wealthiest one percent of the United States population possessed a solid fifteen percent of the all the income in the country. Since then, others have placed the number for his time even higher, around eighteen percent. In modern US society, that figure has climbed to twenty four percent.

The freedom to own personal property is an indisputably essential political right for all human beings. At a certain point, theft of property becomes a question of life and death, and surely indicates the breakdown of a society. The problem with income inequality is not the creation of wealth; it is societal failure to support private property for working people. If the level of material wealth required to generate an income grows too high, where does that leave the working class? We see small examples of this. The demands for investment in education, transportation, and workplace attire make many jobs unobtainable for those who start out with less. All of this highlights how necessary it is in our society to create good jobs and good education for American workers, on American soil.

Initially, only a few companies sold their products online. But as the reach of the Internet increased, this new-age media caught attention of a variety of business entities simply because of its effectiveness. As a large number of companies started using the Internet as a sales point, competition increased bringing in better ethics and customer support. Simply put, rather than doing business as usual, the Internet became more like the traditional business practices of brick and mortar companies.

Websites have become sophisticated sellers of everything, including a full product line for motorcycles, autos and boats insurance products right online. Traditionally, an individual would sell an insurance product to the end-user for a high commission. Innovative business minds worked together to eliminate this practice and began to generate revenue from in-depth online information only. The result, websites that sell insurance products online now are not dependent on satellite stores with sales representatives. Instead, they generate more traffic with advertisements, promotions and commercials. They have also found the value of being ethical and clear in their practices.

All this has changed the perspective of end users who flock to websites to purchase their goods. Society has adapted to computers and instant purchases.

Many people often ask what can be done to get the nation’s youth more interested in the political process. Many older Americans are concerned that political interest is diminishing with each younger generation. Further, older Americans often see younger Americans only participating in politics and elections when it is viewed as trendy to do so, such as when a certain presidential candidate is able to catch the attention of the nation’s youth. This is often viewed as dangerous because it’s argued that the youth don’t truly know what they are voting for, and that they are only voting for a particular candidate because the candidate seems hip and trendy.

How then, can the nation’s youth be swayed to research Party and candidate platforms in order to make truly informed voting decisions? One way the political parties can reach out to the nation’s youth is by communicating with them via new age methods. Examples of these new age methods include social media networks, blogging, and other online venues. The youth are used to being bombarded with multiple messages at once and therefore, political information must be fashioned in a way to grab their attention in the shortest time amount possible. If hip and trendy is what grabs their attention, then platform messages should be created in a way to meet this demand.

Times are changing and so must American politics. The youth are the nation’s future and if the political scene doesn’t change to meet the demands of the youth, then the nation will only continue to see a drop in political participation. A quick examination of United States history shows this isn’t the first time America has undergone a shift in communication venues or in youth interests. Political interest has stood the test of time before and so shall it survive the current era.

Many people are calling for increased citizen involvement with the political process. They say that citizens must do more to learn about the candidates being elected into office and also about the political process in general. While this may be so, whose responsibility is it to get citizens more involved in politics? Are the citizens personally responsible for not being involved? Should politicians have a duty of increasing citizen involvement? If the responsibility lies with politicians, here are a few ways they can begin doing more now to connect with the public.

Town hall meetings seem to be particularly effective in spurring citizen political interest. When the public is given the chance to directly ask questions of political candidates and officials already in office, a personal connection is established. When citizens feel their questions and concerns are heard, they are more likely to increase political involvement.

Politicians should do more to create outlets for citizens to contact them with questions, suggestions and concerns. These outlets can include anything from online submission forms to in person meetings. Again, when people feel their voice is being heard and that their opinion matters, they are more likely to become involved.

One final way politicians can help increase public political participation is by upholding their campaign promises. When citizens take the time to vote a candidate into office, they expect that official to remain true on the promises of change made during the election season. If those promises aren’t withheld, citizens can become frustrated and withdraw from the political scene. If an official stays true to their word, the public will be more likely to see politicians as honest and trustworthy and will be more likely to vote in the future.

Although the responsibility to generate political interest lies with both the public and politicians, these are a few examples of how government officials can do more to get citizens involved. If citizens are inspired to become more involved, they will establish more solid views of political platforms and can then make more informed voting decisions.

Society has a lot of pressures. Succumbing to them occasionally by spending a bit too much to keep up with others is natural and human. As long as you’re not regularly getting yourself into financial trouble, you’re not doing anything that’s cause for alarm. If your friends are going out and they invite you, of course you’ll want to go along and have a good time. That’s especially true if it’s a special occasion or a weekend. You’ve been working hard all week, and you need a break. Going out can be just the thing to make you feel happy and relaxed, but not if you spend the entire time worrying about money.

It’s nice to know that you have options, and you don’t have to tell your friends that you can’t go along because you can’t afford it. No one likes to admit that, especially if he or she is just making some friends, getting established and trying to build a name for themselves with their employer. Staying home all the time isn’t any fun, either. You need to be able to go out and live a little, so you can enjoy all that life in your city has to offer to you.

A main platform of the Reform Party is keeping a balanced federal budget and paying down the ever increasing national debt. Many citizens commend this platform and are now turning to the Reform Party instead of the main two parties. However, since the Reform Party doesn’t currently hold the government power, what can those who support this platform do to encourage the current administration to resolve the debt crisis while the Reform Party continues to gain momentum?

Bringing Down Debt

A first action citizens can encourage the current administration to take is to focus on slowing down the rising debt by no longer bailing out irresponsible corporations and by no longer trying to change program after program. While certain programs may be beneficial in the long run, if we can’t reasonably cover the cost of them then they won’t be good for anyone. By focusing on bringing the debt down and creating a balanced budget, the administration will finally be on the road to fiscal responsibility.

Revamp Budget

A second action the current administration should be encouraged to take is revamping the federal budget to be written in plain words that all citizens can understand. While some citizens may currently hear that the debt is rising, they can’t understand why or don’t voice their opposition because the budget language is incomprehensible. If the budget is written so citizens can easily understand it, then this can act as an additional check that the administration is acting responsibly.

Even if the current administration refuses to take these necessary steps or ignores citizen suggestions, this will simply empower the Reform Party. This will also show that changes must be made to eliminate age old irresponsible government actions. Hopefully more citizens will be inspired to voice their opposition to the irresponsible actions and inspire lasting positive government changes.

Although people from all types of backgrounds have been elected into political offices, the most successful ones have been competent decision makers. If you truly want to be successful and make a difference during your time in office, you too will need to be skilled at making prompt and accurate decisions on a variety of issues that are presented to you.

To be a successful politician, you must also have a thick skin. You will receive a variety of criticisms on each decision you make and if you don’t have the grace to accept the accurate criticisms and power to disregard the inaccurate ones, you won’t make it very long in the government realm. However, you will also hopefully receive much praise for the positive changes you make while in office and this praise works as a great buffer against harsh criticisms.

As a politician you must be a good leader. Sure, there are plenty of politicians who aren’t good leaders and who are also corrupt. However, they typically don’t last long and certainly don’t bring a good reputation to the government realm. Being a good leader means many things including listening to citizen needs and making changes to meet those needs, being a positive role model and remaining true to your campaign promises.

If you are elected into office, you must be prepared to have many areas of your private life revealed to the public. Actually, you should be prepared for this during the election process. You are running for a public office and thus, citizens expect to know exactly who they are voting into office. If you have a clean history, this shouldn’t be a problem. However, if you have a less than perfect past, you should have a plan to bring this into public knowledge before your opponent does.

Loving the Reform Party isn’t a crime. However, political conventions can often lead to high levels of emotion and can easily get out of control. Learn to avoid these messes by keeping in mind these five rules of etiquette at political convention:

Avoid trash talking
There’s always going to be the opposition party – or parties! – appearing at the convention. Their goal is to rain on the parade. Don’t let them win! While you may be tempted to snort or even confront them and their banners, the best rule in this situation is your mother’s rule. Always be polite! Simply acknowledge their presence, thank them for coming and be on your way. Don’t get sucked into their physical confrontations.

Rhymes are Great, but Please don’t Hate
Politics can be dirty, but the Reform Party isn’t. That’s what sets the Reform Party apart from the other two parties. In 1998, Governor Jesse Ventura won his race based on commercials that were grass roots, clean and cheap! They also didn’t take potshots at his opponent! Today, the Reform Party lives by that tradition, even among the convention circle. So start a chant, go crazy! But try not to trash talk the other parties. They do plenty of damage to themselves as it is!

Be Loud and Proud!
Remember that it’s a celebration of the ideas that you hold dear and true! Applaud when you feel it, and have a great time. Be sure to meet many people. A convention is no place to be an introvert. With so many like-minded people from all over the country congregating in one place, it’s a golden opportunity for you and them to spread ideas!

The convention is the time where many like-minded individuals can really formulate some great ideas and feel comfortable. Gathering and celebrating ideals worked for America’s forefathers and can work for the Reform Party too.

These decisions are typically associated with your community and can involve such things as building new structures and parks to increasing taxes. These decisions affect your life because not only will they change your community, they could increase the amount of money you have to pay back to the government.

The decisions made by national officials can have an even greater impact on your life. These decisions can range from anything to starting wars to revamping the healthcare system. If a war begins, you or someone you love could be deployed. If the healthcare system is changed, you could have to pay more in taxes to cover the cost of the new system or you may lose your current healthcare plan.

These are just a few of the many ways the decisions made by government officials can affect your life. Hopefully this information will be reason enough to become more involved in the political process and more informed on the platforms of those being voted into office.
