Figure out what you will do for your fund-raiser. There are a few things to decide about. Will the fund-raiser be a benefit one? Are you going to sell merchandise or will you use the popularity of the Internet and social media to raise the funds?  Having a fund-raiser is the perfect way to make a lot of money since your audience and supporters are enthusiastic enough in your campaign that they’re more than happy to help with your political campaign.

Make sure the place where you’re having the fund-raiser will fit everyone in there comfortably. If you’re in an area where the weather is nice, you can opt for an outdoor place. Just keep an eye on the weather. You can always purchase a large outdoor cover to protect in case it rains.

Get as many volunteers as you can. You can easily recruit high school and college students that have a strong interest in politics. Not only are you getting people to help out at no cost, but also they’ll be there to help make the fund-raiser run a little more smoothly.

It’s important to make your volunteers feel appreciated. Most politicians will have a weekly meeting to show their appreciation. Make the meetings casual and fun. Give them food, drinks and maybe awards funny gifts for different things they’ve done during the campaign.

Hiring a campaign manager for your political campaign will be one of the most important decisions you’ll have to make.  You want to choose a person that is going to achieve your main goal, to win the election. There are certain skills that should be taken into consideration when hiring your political campaign manager.

Find several candidates who you feel have the right amount of experience and education that would do well as you campaign manager. A really experience person will know what failure and success is like.

Talk to the candidates about ethical behavior and how responsible they are. Their ethic views should be the same as yours. He or she will also have to be extremely organized and have strong leadership skills since the person chosen will be running your campaign.

A potential campaign manager should have a great amount of networks and connections that would help your campaign.

Find someone who believes as strongly as you do on the issues. It helps having a campaign manager that believes in you and really wants you do win and do well. Not to mention the person chosen will have to be completely, 100 percent loyal to you and your campaign.

Once you’ve found one or two people that you think would be great, get references from the previous campaigns they’ve worked on. Your references will let you know whether or not that person has what it takes to run your campaign.

Before making any decisions on which hiring manager you want, think about his or her skills and abilities and whether or not that person is the best person to run your political campaign.

Running a Mock Election in School

A mock election is a great activity that many schools should be taking part in with their students. Teachers always say they want their students to get more hands-on with their schoolwork. So why not do that by getting them involved in a mock election. This will allow students for fully learn and understand how elections work and the important role they’ll be playing in it when they’re old enough to vote.

Here’s how to create a mock election in your school.

Before the mock election gets underway, it’s good to give a couple of lessons on how the electoral process actually works. Students should be learning about delegates, electoral colleges and everything in between. This is going to be a tough subject for some of the students to understand. Make copies of information and use a whiteboard to write out the election process.

Decide which two students are going to be the running candidates. One will be the republican while the other a democrat. Since speeches are involved, make sure the two chosen students won’t mind speaking in front of their classmates. As part of their homework, have the two students think about where they stand on certain issues. Have the other students come up with questions for the mock rally you’ll be having before the mock election.

On the mock Election Day, let your candidates give their speeches. Once they’re done, ask them to sit in the library while the class votes. Have two students supervise the election where they’ll hand each student a piece of paper and pencil. They will tell the students to write down whom they want to vote for and make sure the piece is folded in half.

The election moderator will be the one to take out all the votes and tally them up to see who the new president is. If the numbers are pretty close, the teacher can do vote as an “electoral college. Once you cast your vote, the one who has the most votes will win.

Bring the two candidates back in where the winner will be announced.

Speak with politics officers in your area about any jobs on a grassroots campaign. Working as a political organizer will require you to go out and raise awareness and money for a variety of campaigns. This is done on the streets as well as knocking on some doors.

It’s important to have the ability to sell yourself as well as the campaign you’re working on. Politics is just people selling things. You’re not selling products, but you are trying to convince someone to vote for a certain candidate or even a specific political party. You’re speaking with people to convince them to be on your side. This takes strong selling skills.

Competition Between Different Political Parties

For a country to run smoothly and constantly trying to make it better all the time, the need of different political parties become evident. Each and every country has quite a few political parties who play a pivotal role in its running and development. People may not like politics, but without politics a country becomes stagnant. Lifting the Veil of the Reform Party

Having lodged just one win with Jesse Ventura’s Governor’s race in 1998, it might seem like the Reform Party is fading from the American Consciousness. Reports of internal squabbles within the Party certainly have not helped. Still, the party, and other movements like it have continued to attract Americans fed up with politics that is seen as run of the mill.

The dominance of the Democrats and Republicans of American politics often overshadows less mainstream parties. There is still a significant segment of society that does not understand the principles, or indeed the politics of the Reform Party. A number of active state affiliates are seeking to return the Reform Party to its original objectives.

The Reform Party has made its rather centrist approach no secret in politics. One clearly stated objective of the Party has always been to bring together people from both sides of the political divide. This may explain its reluctance to be mired in what are considered value oriented issues. Groups that embrace social conservatism may chafe at the idea of adopting the Reform Party principles in this context.

Each election year both Democrats and Republicans make every effort to court independent voters. Their support can often mean the difference between success and defeat at the polls. Additionally, they can swing either way, depending on pressing issues like the National Debt and the state of the economy. Some pundits see this as pointing to the continued relevance of the Reform Party.

Some affiliates like those in Oklahoma and Texas continue to push their agenda for political reform. Issues at the top of its platform include term limits of US representatives and delivering a balanced budget. Websites for various affiliates have helped to extend the reach of the Party and help to deliver its message to a wider cross section of society. In time, the message may find greater traction among an increasingly disillusioned population.

The Reform Party and its Support of Third Parties

Although it is not a new Party having been around since 1996, not many persons know much about the Reform Party of America. The Party has a number of core values. One of its newest mandates is to work to strengthen third parties in the country. Prior to this, their original aim was for lower taxes and set term limits for government. Of course there are now other issues on its platform that the party brings to public attention.

In its efforts to support third parties and independents, the Reform Party encourages persons who are willing to serve in government to come forward. Of course, they want only credible persons who can get voters in. To the Reform Party anyone who shares their values regardless of whether they are centrists or conservatives can receive their support. In short, anyone seeking political office who is seen as an alternative to the main parties is welcome.

The main requirement is that any potential candidate not only focuses on their own campaign but also the campaigns of others. In addition, they are expected to help work towards the welfare and success of the Reform Party. The Party believes that this helps strengthen the power of each member and the Party.

The Party is encouraging members to help ensure the success of third parties in a number of different ways. One is to encourage independent candidates to join the Reform Party. If they join, the benefit to them is another source of funding for their campaign and help from volunteers from the Reform Party.

The Party uses the Internet and social media outlets as well as the media to get their message out. They have a strong campaign machinery urging citizens to cast their votes. Since 1996, the Party has been able to field presidential candidates in each election.

A Short Biography of Thomas Paine

Thomas Paine is a fascinating figure from the history of American politics. Born in February of 1737, he published numerous pamphlets and contributed valuable insights to the political discourse of his time; the depth of his impact on American society is impossible to know.

Tomas Payne was born in rural England. In early life, he attended grammar school and then was apprenticed to his father, who was a corset stay maker. After a brief stint as a privateer, he became a master stay-maker and opened up a shop. He married in 1759, but his wife died of complications from her first pregnancy. In England he was involved in a brief second marriage and various business and civic ventures until, legend has it, Benjamin Franklin suggested that he immigrate to America. After a difficult passage that took him some weeks to recover from, he gained citizenship in the colonies and started work editing Pennsylvania Magazine–a post he would follow with an illustrious career as a propagandist and writer.

The pamphlet Common Sense, first published in 1776, was a breakaway success in American society. It was also one of the essential political texts of the American revolution. Other works he wrote include a book against deism. Many of Paine’s political contributions would be considered still relevant, but astonishingly radical, even by today’s standards. He was also heavily involved in the French revolution, and, without the ability to speak French, was elected to the French national convention in 1792. Paine’s involvement in French political life continued through the regime of Napoleon, a political figure of of whom Paine was extremely critical.

Thomas Payne died in 1809 and was buried in a sparsely attended service; his open criticism and mockery of the Christian faith had lost him many friends in society. Despite this, he is remembered as one of the great contributors to American political discourse and American society, as well as the revolution.
